My diet starts on Monday. I am going to start working out on Monday. My program starts Monday. Never skip a Monday. Have you said these things? I feel like it is every week for me. I am always starting over. I can usually stay on track throughout the week and then the weekend comes. Either there are lots of activities which throws me off my schedule or the week has been so busy that I cannot muster the energy to even think about eating healthy or making it to the gym on the weekend.
But as I write this, it’s Monday, 7:00 AM, I was for sure getting up and working out today. Yet here I am writing. Maybe I will go in an hour. So even this week, I am starting out on the wrong foot. What motivates you to get to the gym or get a workout in? I have not been able to find a single motivation that always works for me. Sometimes it is as simple as routine and sometimes it’s progress, the number on the scale, or a workout partner. I like exercise. I do not LOVE exercise. It would be so much easier if I woke up and could not wait to get to the gym. I have changed my routine or program more times that I can count or remember.
My goal is to look at the positive side of my failures. Here is the good news, there is a Monday every week. There is endless opportunities for me to start over. Also, there is no real rule that Monday is the starting point. I can start over again on Tuesday. There are also endless possibilities of workouts for me to try. When one is old or I just don’t want to do it anymore, I can do something else.
So here is to starting over all over again. And again. And again.
I’d love to hear your comments. Do you have the same struggles I do? I’d also love for you to follow my journey of healthy living. You can follow or subscribe to this blog so you never have to miss a post.

Beginning a class with a friend has helped immensely to keep me on task. I wasn’t comfortable going by myself to the gym, I was burnt out on the elliptical and I can’t be held accountable to work out at home. Luckily I’ve found a partner willing to try new classes and now I’m comfortable going even when she is unable. I’ve only been consistent the last 5 months, but that’s better than I’ve done in the last 10 years! Now the energy I have and the fact that I can tell my circulations is better is my motivation. I hope I will keep it up!

I agree that going with a friend is a great motivation. I have gone through periods where I did have a consistent workout partner and that definitely helped me get out of bed in the morning.

“There is a Monday every week”! I like that— it’s never too late to start or start again.
