Mental Fitness in October

Gearing up for the holidays

October is here! I can’t believe I need to start thinking about all of the upcoming holidays. It has taken me 45 years but I finally realize that while I may be busier at certain times of the year, I am actually just always busy with life. The quiet tomorrow just isn’t going to come on it’s own. I have to create the quiet today despite all of life’s busyness. I have been writing a bit about goal setting and self care. As the holidays approach, my goals are going to be making sure that I get in my self care.

I am working (or not working but doing) on my meditation challenge (31 days of meditation). I am not surprised a bit, but I do love it. I need to continue after the 31 days. That really is the point of challenges when I do them. I want to continue the practices and the challenge really just helps me form the habit. What things will you try to form habits of this fall?

My “To Read” list is as long as ever. But reading is my number choice of self care. Here is what is on the top of my list: Drop the Ball by Tiffany Dufu and How Not to Die Alone by Richard Roper. I have 2 books that I want to listen on Audible. Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell and Clockwork by Mike Michalowicz.

I also set fitness goals for my body as well as my soul (mediatation) and mind (reading). I am doing it so far. My goal is to make it to the gym 4 days a week and add more steps to my days.

I’d love for you to follow my journey of healthy living and visiting as many gyms as I can squeeze in. You can follow or subscribe to this blog so you never have to miss a post.
