I wrote a little bit about F45 while I was doing Boise Fitness Week. I have been going to F45 for 8 months and am really glad that I was willing to try it out. F45 is functional fitness training. My best description is that it is a bit like crossfit or bootcamp classes. The exercises are meant to be functional or mimic real life movements.

It has taken me 45 years but I finally realize that while I may be busier at certain times of the year, I am actually just always busy with life. The quiet tomorrow just isn’t going to come on it’s own. I have to create the quiet today despite all of life’s busyness.
We are at the end of the month already! I feel like I was just setting my goals and now I am realizing how many I never got to. How do you evaluate your progress? Do you look monthly, weekly, or not at all?
Finding unique ways to care for my body and soul
This past week I did two really unique and cool things. First, I did goat yoga with Emily at Lively Balance in Boise. On a trip to Provo, Utah, over the weekend, I was able to get a foot spa at FishKiss Fish Spa. Both are difficult to describe in words so I have some pictures to help out.
Walking into Barre3 I was a bit intimidated. I had done a class during Boise Fitness Week but I was not sure if it would be the same. I don’t like to do new things alone. But that’s why I am visiting new gyms and why I am writing about it. Intimidation is a huge factor for people to not try a class that they think may be fun or a great workout.

One year ago I was preparing for the my biggest move ever. My family and I were packing, garage-saling, and saying goodbye to our friends. We were about to embark on a move from Southern California to Boise, Idaho. While my husband and I are from Michigan originally, my kids are native Californians and definitely reluctant to leave all they knew.
On Day 9 I had to squeeze in 2 workouts. I was a little better at planning these. In the morning I headed to Downtown Boise for Upcycle and then in the afternoon I was back in Boise for Hollywood Market Yoga. I purposely left yoga for Day 9 and for Day 10 I only visited Stretch Lab. I though those two were perfect for a wind down to the week.
Day 8 was Friday and I still had a few workouts to get in. I was still very sore from Pure Barre the day before and just tired from working out everyday for 7 days in a row (not my norm). I powered through and went to F45 and I Love Kickboxing on the same day! I felt so great after but it was a killer workout day.
Barre uses a ballet barre for many of the exercises and is a full body workout. Like all the other fitness places I have visited for Boise Fitness Week, it was a group class. This class challenged me more than any other I did throughout the week. I was incredibly sore for a few days after taking this class. The moves were very precise and numerous in their repetition. Lindsay was the instructor and she took very seriously correcting form and gave a ton of individual instruction. It was the true personal training in a group setting that is often quoted as the benefit of boutique fitness. When we were told we were going to burn out the left side, there was no ‘maybe’ in that statement.
